General

How far in advance should I book?

A week ahead is usually enough for Jeep and e-fatbike tours in Bujumbura. East Africa expeditions need at least three weeks so we can arrange cross-border permits.

What if I need to cancel?

Bujumbura tours and rentals can be cancelled up to 24 hours before departure for a full refund. East Africa expeditions require 7 days' notice, since permits and lodges are booked ahead on your behalf.

How do I pay?

Book and pay online through the booking button on any page, or arrange payment directly with us on WhatsApp — card, mobile money and cash on arrival all work.

Do you offer discounts for groups?

Yes. Groups of 6 or more get a private guide at no extra cost on e-fatbike tours, and East Africa expeditions are priced per Jeep, so larger groups split the cost further.

Jeep Wrangler

How many people fit in the Jeep?

The Wrangler Unlimited seats four passengers plus the driver comfortably. For larger groups we can arrange a second vehicle from our partner fleet.

Can I drive it myself?

Yes, self-drive rental is available with a valid driving licence and a refundable security deposit. If you'd rather not navigate laterite roads yourself, chauffeur-driven hire is available for a small daily supplement.

Is the Jeep available outside Burundi?

The vehicle is based in Bujumbura, but our guided expeditions take it across the border into Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya — permits and paperwork are handled as part of the tour price.

What should I bring on a full-day tour?

Sun protection, a light jacket for the highlands, and a camera. Water and a driver-guide are included on all guided tours.

E-Fatbike

Do I need cycling experience?

No — the motor assist makes these rides accessible to casual riders. You should be comfortable balancing and braking on a standard bicycle.

What is the minimum age?

14, and riders under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. A helmet is provided and required on every ride.

How long does the battery last?

Up to 60 km per charge depending on terrain and assist level. Multi-day rentals include an evening charge as part of the price.

East Africa expeditions

Do I need a visa for the countries we cross?

Visa requirements vary by nationality and route. We'll confirm exactly what you need for your itinerary once you book, but visa fees themselves are charged separately from the tour price.

Is fuel included?

A fuel allowance is included in the expedition price. Any distance beyond the planned route is billed at the same per-kilometre rate as our standard rentals.

What are the accommodations like?

A mix of basic lodges and camping, chosen for location over luxury — riverside, lakeside or with a view worth waking up for.

Houseboat

When does the houseboat launch?

We're finalizing details on Lake Tanganyika now. Join the waitlist on the houseboat page and you'll be the first to know the launch date.

Will it be available outside Burundi?

No — the houseboat is exclusive to Lake Tanganyika and won't be offered in any other Safari Safi market.
